MBBS
Undergraduate — 4.5 years + 1 year compulsory rotating internship
Careers: Registered medical practitioner, PG (MD/MS) specialisation
MBBS and MD/MS through NEET counselling, plus direct-merit allied health sciences, B.Sc Nursing and BPT at Aarupadai Veedu Medical College & Hospital, Puducherry — with clinical training inside its own multi-specialty teaching hospital.
Aarupadai Veedu Medical College & Hospital (AVMC), Kirumampakkam, Puducherry, is the constituent medical college of Vinayaka Mission's Research Foundation (VMRF), a UGC-recognised Deemed to be University. It runs two structurally different admission routes, and confusing them is the most common and most expensive mistake families make.
MBBS admission is governed entirely by NEET-UG. Candidates must qualify NEET-UG and are admitted through the Deemed University counselling conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). There is no management quota, no direct route and no institutional-level admission outside MCC counselling — anyone offering one is not operating within NMC rules. MD and MS postgraduate seats follow the identical structure through NEET-PG and MCC counselling. The MBBS programme is NMC-recognised and runs 4.5 years plus a one-year compulsory rotating internship.
Allied health sciences and nursing do not require NEET.B.Sc Medical Laboratory Technology, B.Sc Cardiac Technology, B.Sc Radiology & Imaging Technology, B.Sc Operation Theatre & Anaesthesia Technology, BPT and B.Sc Nursing are admitted on direct merit from 10+2 Physics, Chemistry and Biology marks. B.Sc Nursing additionally follows Indian Nursing Council norms — a minimum 45% aggregate and a minimum age of 17 as on 31 December of the admission year. All degrees are awarded by VMRF and are UGC-recognised, and every programme trains inside the attached multi-specialty teaching hospital with clinical postings from the early semesters.
The 'Entry route' column is the one that matters. NEET applies to MBBS and MD/MS only — everything else is direct merit.

On MBBS specifically: admission is possible only through NEET-UG followed by MCC Deemed University counselling. Advisory support here covers counselling registration, choice-filling strategy, document readiness and reporting — it does not and cannot include a seat outside that process. Any party promising a “management quota” MBBS seat at a deemed university is operating outside NMC regulations.
Allied health sciences are the fastest route into hospital clinical practice for students who did not clear NEET — and they remain in permanent short supply.

A medical college is only as good as the caseload its students see. At AVMC, training happens inside the attached multi-specialty hospital from the earliest semesters.
The attached AVMC hospital operates as a full multi-specialty teaching facility, so clinical teaching happens on real inpatient and outpatient caseloads rather than in simulation alone.
Teaching-hospital bed strength and departmental distribution are maintained to the norms applicable to the sanctioned MBBS intake. Current figures are confirmed directly from the college before you commit.
24×7 casualty, intensive care units and operation theatres give students exposure to acute and emergency presentations across the full clinical spectrum.
Central clinical laboratory, radiology and imaging suites, cath-lab services and skills-simulation labs support both the MBBS curriculum and every allied health programme.
Early clinical exposure from the pre-clinical semesters, in line with the competency-based curriculum
Structured departmental postings across medicine, surgery, obstetrics & gynaecology, paediatrics and orthopaedics
Specialty rotations covering anaesthesia, radiology, dermatology, psychiatry, ENT and ophthalmology
Community medicine field postings through rural and urban health training centres
One-year compulsory rotating internship after final MBBS, inside the same teaching hospital
Allied health and nursing students posted to their corresponding clinical departments from year one
Bed strength, departmental capacity and current rotation schedules are verified directly with the college during the admission process, since these figures change between academic sessions.
